چکیده

The protocol of the experiment was designed as follows. In the morning, the instrument was prepared for operation by calibration and verification with whole blood gas control samples (Quantra; Dade Division of American Hospital Supply Corp., Miami, FL 33152). An IL blood gas control, ContrIL, was analyzed for P02 before and after the determination on blood from the patient in surgery. Two levels of IL blood gas controls (Normal ContrlL and Alkalosis ContrlL) were used in this study and the reproducibility of each was determined. The mean value for 18 results for Normal ContrlL was 96.3 mrnHg (SD 0.93),with a CV of 1%.The mean value for 19 results for Alkalosis ContrlL was 146.3 (SD 0.96) mmHg, with a CV of 0.7%. Table 1 shows the analytical results for 25 paired (before and after) control samples from seven patients. We did 18 single analyses on control samples immediately after blood samples containing various levels of halothane. All data inTable 1 were obtained by using a single p02 electrode. The results demonstrate that there was no significant halothane carryover effect with the P02 electrode in the IL 813 blood gas analyzer.

DEVELOPMENT OF A SIMPLE AND SENSITIVE ENZYME- LINKED IMMUNOSORBENT ASSAY (ELISA) FOR CLINICAL MEASUREMENT OF TESTOSTERONE USING PENICILLINASE AS LABEL

An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using a homologous combination of antiserum raised against testosterone-3-0-carboxymethyloxime-bovine serum albumin (T-3-0-CMO-BSA ) and penicillinase-labelled T-3-0-CMO was developed. This assay was utilized to measure testosterone in serum samples of male and female subjects. The sensitivity of the assay is 50pg/well and the antibody developed crossrea...

RadioimmunoassayResultsfor Phenytoinin Serum Increasedby AbnormallyHighConcentrationsof Free FattyAcidsin ExternalQuality- ControlSamples

Amersham International’s kit for radioimmunoassay of phenytoin in serum or plasma has been extensively tested with lyophilized human control sera, and comparison with gasliquid chromatography in a clinical trial gave excellent agreement between the two methods (1). However, unsatisfactory results were obtained by this laboratory during participation in an American quality-control (QC) scheme fo...

Study of the effects of Neuropeptide Y injections on plasma concentrations of Thyroxine and triiodothyronine in goat

Introduction: Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is the most abundant peptide present in mammals' brains. The majority of NPY-producing neurons is in arcuate and paraventricular nuclei of hypothalamus which affect hypophysiotrapic factors secretion. In this study we investigated the effect of intravenous injections of various doses of NPY on thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) serum concentrations. ...

Comparison of the Effect of Bovine Platelet Lysate and Platelet Rich Plasma as Growth Promoters on Growth Rate and Viability of Different Cell Lines

Background: Cell therapy and cell culture have received much attention in recent decades. Suitable cell growth requires growth supplements such as fetal bovine serum (FBS). FBS is component rich in nutrients, growth factors and supplementary compounds. However, FBS utilization has some limitations including mass production. Therefore, finding alternatives with the same growth promoting effects ...

Positive interference in Radioimmunoassay determination of serum total T3

Introduction: Determination of thyrotropin, total and free thyroxine and triiodothyronine are widely used as diagnostic methods for thyroid function evaluation. There have been numerous reports of interferences in thyroid hormone immunoassays. Herein, a prominent positive interference is reported for a radioimmunoassay kit of total triiodothyronine. Materials and Methods: In this study, a total...

Performance characteristics of three automated immunoassays for thyroid hormones

Background: Since the introduction of the first radioimmunoassay, several improvements have been made in the design of immunoassays such as method of antibody production, labeling, automation and detection technology. We performed an analytical evaluation of the new electrochemiluminescent immunoassay (ECLIA) for serum TSH, FT4 and T3 in the Elecsys 2010 immunoassay system and compared the resu...
